So, guess what? We ended up with some unexpected additions to our farm - a mix of meat pigs and two adorable pet piggies! We originally had plans for some top-notch, vegetarian-fed, antibiotic-free pork for our family and maybe yours too. Limited quantities, of course!

But then we also fell head over heels for these little Kune Kune pigs. We've got a dude named Charlie, a gift from Santa for Lily, and recently brought in a girl piggy named Charolette. Fingers crossed that one day our boy Charlie and his new lady Charolette will have some piglet babies of their own.

I had this grand vision of bringing in a couple of goats to help out around the property and keep the cows company. Well, let's just say things didn't quite go as planned!

Those little mischief-makers managed to outsmart even the electric fencing, making a beeline for the neighboring goat herds in no time. It was like they were shouting, "Mom!" as they pranced around without a care in the world. Cash and I found ourselves playing a game of goat roundup multiple times a day, trying to steer them back to their pasture. But it was clear - these goats were on a mission to make new friends, and our neighbor's herd seemed like the perfect match. Thankfully, our kind neighbor agreed to adopt them, ensuring they were safe and sound with their new buddies. Lesson learned, Timmy: maybe goats weren't the best fit for us right now.

They're not just any ordinary turkeys, oh no! They should come with warning labels that say, "Caution: Expert Level Trouble Inside!" 😂

The day has come for our first livestock purchase - our American Aberdeen COWS have been delivered!

We bought Aberdeen cattle, which are best known for their easy-keeping, docile nature, and moderate frame size. The girls can walk right up to them & feed them! They particularly like their 'cookies' (aka NutreBeef Cubes). Aberdeen's also do particularly well in grass-fed operations, as we plan to move them throughout our 20-acre pastures.

After 3 years of looking, contemplation, and soul-searching, we made the decision to take a leap of faith & leave everything we've known for the future of our children.
